Panel discussion entitled “UN Security Council Resolution #1325 – What lies ahead”?

On March 4, 2013, the Permanent Missions of Armenia and Estonia to the United Nations in partnership with the Armenian Relief Society, Armenian General Benevolent Union, NGO CSW/NY and Global Network of Women Peacebuilders held a panel discussion in order to accelerate the implementation process of the UN Security Council resolution 1325 and discuss how the member states and NGO-s could improve their work in advancing gender equality and women`s empowerment agenda.

Moderated by Ambassador Garen Nazarian, Permanent Representative of Armenia to the UN (former Chair of CSW), the panel featured H.E. Urmas Paet, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Es tonia, Ms. Soon-Young Yoon, UN representative of the International Alliance of Women and Chair, NGO CSW /NY, Ms. Anne Marie Goetz, Chief Advisor on Peace and Security, UN Women, Ms. Bineta Diop, Founder and President, Femmes Africa Solidarité (FAS) and Ms. Mavic Cabrera-Balleza, International Coordinator, the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders.

Attended by the representatives of the member states and civil society, the United Nations entities and experts the panel has touched upon the implementation process of the Women, Peace and Security resolutions and highlighted the need for concrete steps towards effective implementations of the "1325 concept" and National Action Plans.

Positively assessing the panel discussion and thanking the organizers the participants have raised questions for the speakers and made interesting and valuable comments during the interactive part of the discussions.
