Mission Hosts Fletcher Students

On January 10, the Permanent Mission of Armenia to the United Nations hosted a group of graduate students from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy (Tufts University) as part of their annual career trip to New York.

Every year since 1999 the Fletcher School has been hosting Armenian diplomats and civil servants for special certificate program and Master’s degrees in international law. The program which has been supported entirely by the generosity of the Tavitian Foundation, founded by an Armenian philanthropist-businessman Aso Tavitian. Given such strong ties with Armenia, the Fletcher Office of Career Services requested to hold a discussion with the students to introduce them to the work of the Armenian delegation to the United Nations.

The interaction was very lively and the students once again realized what a meaningful role the Fletcher education plays in the lives of its graduates and what impact the graduates, in their turn, can have on diplomatic relations or on any other field they work in.

After the discussion with Ambassador Nazarian and the Armenian diplomats, students had a brief tour of the building and they were told about the history of Armenia’s accession to the United Nations and the establishment of the Permanent Mission.
