Book Presentation in New York

On February 27, the AGBU New York Office hosted the author Anna Astvatsaturian Turcotte’s book presentation which was organized under the auspices of the Permanent Mission of Armenia to the United Nations.

The book entitled “Nowhere – a story of exile” reflects the author’s own story and memories of heinous crimes committed against Armenians in Azerbaijan. She was a ten year old girl living in the seaside city of Baku, in the Soviet Republic of Azerbaijan. Like any other young girl, she had childhood aspirations and dreams. Due to these atrocities her entire life was swept away and her family was forced to flee for their lives and eventually found refuge in the United States starting their lives over. The author speaks of these tragic events resulting in dire consequences for survivors and the entire Armenian nation.

Highly appreciating the author's unique work and highlighting the importance of her ongoing efforts to raise public awareness on the atrocities, in his remarks, the Permanent Representative of Armenia to the UN, Ambassador Garen Nazarian has stated that annual commemoration events help to mobilize the unity and potential of our nation to counter Azerbaijan’s “caviar diplomacy” and false propaganda.

Book presentation participants included the representatives of the Armenian-American organizations, staff members of Armenia’s Permanent Mission and non-Armenian guests.
