New Permanent Representative of Armenia Presented His Credentials to UN Secretary-General

On June 10, the new Permanent Representative of Armenia to the United Nations, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, presented his credentials to the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

Following the ceremony, Ambassador Mnatsakanyan relayed the greetings and best wishes of Armenia’s President to the Secretary-General and presented the Armenian foreign policy priorities, as well as the activities of his Permanent Mission within the United Nations.

Armenia’s new Ambassador and the UN Secretary-General reflected on the efforts towards the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. In that context, the sides highlighted the need for a peaceful resolution and that the format of negotiations mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs is irreplaceable.

At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Mnatsakanyan reaffirmed his country’s determination to continue to be constructively engaged within the UN and contributing to international peace and development, as well as to the solution of major issues facing the international community.
