President of ECOSOC,

Excellences,

At the outset, I would like to express my gratitude for convening this important meeting, which gives us an opportunity to engage in a fruitful discussion with multiple stakeholders and reflect on how diverse partnerships can accelerate the implementation of Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.

This year’s Partnership Forum comes at a time of multiple interconnected crises. Our global efforts to achieve sustainable development continue to be heavily affected by the negative impacts of conflicts, natural and human-induced disasters, climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution coupled with rising inequalities, poverty and economic hardships. Addressing these challenges requires concert efforts of the international community through reinvigorated multilateralism and multi-stakeholder partnerships.

The adoption of the Pact for the Future and its annexes last year set out a new benchmark to build back better, accelerate the implementation of the SDGs and collectively respond to newly emerging challenges. We look forward to operationalizing the key commitments of the Pact, including within the work of the Economic and Social Council and through effective collaboration with member states, civil society, private sector and financial institutions, indigenous peoples and local communities, youth, academia and other stakeholders.

As we prepare for the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development Armenia reiterates the importance of increased cooperation for mobilizing necessary resources and uniting around more equitable and adequate landscape for sustainable development financing. In this regard, robust and meaningful dialogues within ECOSOC will be indispensable while contributing to the elaboration and adoption of an action-oriented outcome in Spain this year.

Distinguished colleagues,

Armenia remains strongly committed to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by implementing its ambitious reform agenda at national level and engaging in important discussions at international level. As a current member of the Economic and Social Council, we look forward to working closely and cooperatively with all stakeholders within the ECOSOC cycle to advocate for peace, justice, sustainable development and human rights for all.

I thank you.
