CSTO 20th Anniversary Photo Exhibition

On December 17, 2012, a photo exhibition commemorating the 20th anniversary of signing of the Collective Security Treaty and 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) was launched at the Delegates’ Entrance Lobby of the UN General Assembly Hall.

Attended by the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the Ambassadors of the CSTO member states to the UN, the exhibition also hosted diplomats from CSTO countries, representatives of the UN Secretariat and the diplomatic corps in New York and media.

In her opening remarks at the photo exhibition, the Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the UN (holds current presidency of CSTO) spoke about the signing of the Treaty and the history of the founding the organization, its activities and objectives. The CSTO members joint statement also stressed the importance of the creation of the CSTO Rapid Reaction Collective Forces and peacekeeping forces and touched upon "Vzaimodeystvie 2012", "Rubezh 2012" and "Nerushimoye bratstvo 2012" large-scale complex command-staff exercises of the CSTO Member States’ armed forces held in Armenia, Russian Federation and Kazakhstan respectively in the current year. A separate reference was made to the CSTO International Anti-narcotics "Kanal" Operation conducted on a regular basis.

The exhibition will be open till December 21.
