New Tekeyan Center Opens in New Jersey

On May 18, 2013, the Tekeyan Cultural Association held an opening ceremony of its new center in New Jersey. Representatives of the U.S East Coast Armenian Community, Primate H.E. Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, as well as the Permanent Representative of Armenia to the United Nations Ambassador Garen Nazarian attended the event.

In his speech, Ambassador Nazarian emphasized the special role of the Tekeyan Cultural Association in the maintenance of the Armenian identity, language and culture in diaspora and noted that both the Armenian Apostolic church, traditional political parties, cultural associations and national benefactors, and individuals all play a notable role in this process.

Ambassador Nazarian noted that over the past few years, the Tekeyan Cultural Association and the Permanent Mission of Armenia have jointly organized numerous concerts, receptions and other events with participation of renowned artists from Armenia, to mark such significant occasions as the 20th anniversary of the independence of Armenia, the creation of Armed Forces, the liberation of Shushi, and Armenia’s UN membership anniversary. The Ambassador concluded his remarks by thanking the board members of the Tekeyan Association for their own boundless patriotism and devotion to the Homeland.
