99th Anniversary Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide in New York

Events commemorating the Armenian Genocide took place in New York City. On April 24, Divine Liturgy and Requiem Service in commemoration of the 99th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide were held in a number of the local Armenian churches followed by a protest rally towards the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

On April 27, the Armenian-American Community held its annual demonstration echoing its resilience throughout Times Square in New York City under this year’s theme: “Turkey is Guilty of Genocide: Denying the Undeniable is a Crime.”

An impressive crowd gathered in Times Square for Genocide commemoration included government, religious, humanitarian, educational leaders, as well as performing artists and media representatives sent a resounding message that the denial will not be tolerated as the Centennial memorial approaches.
