Armenia's First Deputy Minister of Defence visited UN

On July 27, First Deputy Minister of Defence of Armenia Davit Tonoyan and Ambassador Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, Permanent Representative of Armenia to the United Nations, had meetings at the UN Headquarters with Dmitry Titov, UN Assistant Secretary-General for the Rule of Law and Security Institutions in the Department of Peacekeeping Operations, and Brigadier General Ahmed Mohamed, Chief of Staff of the Military Office of UN Secretary-General.


Throughout the meetings, discussions were held on Armenia MoD peacekeeping units’ and Armenian officers’ participation in UN peacekeeping missions, as military observers and staff officers. RA First Deputy Minister of Defence Davit Tonoyan noted that Armenia will maintain its active involvement in international security operations, and will increase its assistance in the UN peacekeeping missions.

The UN officials praised Armenian peacekeepers’ service in UNIFIL, and added that partners such as Armenia are essential to the UN peacekeeping operations. During the meeting in the Headquarters of the United Nations, the parties also touched upon other issues of mutual interest.
