Concert and reception at New York Carnegie Hall on the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Armenia

On 13 October at Carnegie Hall in New York the Permanent Mission of Armenia to the United Nations presented a concert by the award-winning pianist Karine Poghosyan on the occasion of 30th anniversary of the Independence the Republic of Armenia. The performance showcased classical works by Aram Khachaturian, Sergey Rachmaninov, George Gershwin and other world-renowned composers.

The concert was followed by an official reception organized by the Permanent Mission of Armenia, attended by Permanent Representatives of the UN member states, diplomats, UN Secretariat officials and the members of the Armenian community of New York.

In his welcoming remarks the Permanent Representative of Armenia to the UN, Ambassador Mher Margaryan presented the centuries-old history and cultural heritage of Armenia and the contribution of the Armenian people to the world civilization. Reflecting on the numerous challenges, faced by the Armenian people following the restoration of independence, Ambassador Margaryan underscored that Armenia strongly associates itself with the purposes and principles of the United Nations and that the strong national identity anchored in the Armenian culture, religion and language became the powerful tool, owing to which the Armenian people have always demonstrated their ability for revival and rebuilding a new life.
