The Secretary General of the UN introduced the proposed budget for 2022 in the General Assembly

13 October, 2021

On 13 October the formal meeting of the Administrative and Budgetary Committee (Fifth Committee) of the UNGA was held under the Chairmanship of Mher Margaryan, Permanent Representative of Armenia to the UN. During the meeting UN Secretary‑General António Guterres presented the Organization’s budget for 2022, after which the representatives of the member-states and groups of states delivered their remarks.

The budget proposal showcases the actions taken by the Secretariat to respond to the COVID-19 crisis. It also illustrates the benefits of investments in staff training and in a global communications strategy.  The proposed programme budget for 2022 amounts to $3,12 billion.

The Budget of the United Nations for 2022 will be approved by a GA resolution to be negotiated during the ongoing session of the Fifth Committee.
