Madam President,
As A Representative of the presidency of the seventeenth summit of the Francophonie and coordinator of the resolution "cooperation between the United Nations and the international organization of Francophonie", Armenia has the honor to present the project of the resolution A / 73 / l. 81.
The heads of state and governments of the countries with French sharing have gathered at the seventeenth summit of the Francophonie, from 11 to 12 October 2018 in the Armenian capital, Yerevan. For two days, the summit of Yerevan has discussed major global issues and the contribution of the Francophonie to respond to it, especially around the question of living together. This theme, red thread of the summit, responds to the current context of French and international space, as an evidence to cultivate and preserver.
Living together is a fundamental value for the French-speaking family, which expanded at the summit. The seventeenth summit brought together representatives of eighty-eight states and governments of the Francophonie to celebrate the common values of solidarity and cooperation, taking diversity as a source of peace, democracy and rights of the Man.
The calendar of this great gathering was truly symbolic, because the summit was held at a time when Armenia was animated by the values of the velvet revolution, a civic and peaceful movement led by the Armenian people in its aspiration to "live together” in an environment of free, fair and solidarity society.
In What the Secretary-General of the United Nations qualified as a "Fantastic example" of peaceful transfer of power, Armenian youth and women have found themselves at the avant-garde of the non-Violent Democratic process, in the full exercise of their rights from man and their fundamental freedoms. The Velvet Revolution and political transformations that followed in Armenia have demonstrated the commitment of the Armenian people to adopt decisively the policies of inclusion, equality of rights and chances, development and peace at the national, regional and international levels. . As declared by the prime minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan at the summit of the Francophonie, the values of peace, solidarity and integral humanism that define the ideology of "living together" in the francophone space are a common good, a wealth that We care, at any cost, to preserve.
The moment of the summit also wore a rather sad symbolism, because it was held during the days when the French-speaking space and the whole world were saying goodbye to Charles Aznavour. A great man of culture, an artist of legend who crossed the eras, generations and borders, Charles Aznavour was a great ambassador of the Francophonie and a truly extraordinary ambassador of Armenia. By paying tribute to this legendary personality, the seventeenth summit of the Francophonie has reaffirmed its common attachment to the humanist values of art, culture and linguistic diversity.
Madame The President,

The message of "living together" chosen as the main theme of the seventeenth summit has a particular meaning, as important as ever, in the troubling world context of decline marked by the international commitment to multilateralism and respect for human rights At a time when we need more international cooperation and reinforced capabilities in this regard.
The Draft resolution that is subject to the approval of the general assembly reflects the narrow ties that exist between the United Nations and the international organization of Francophonie. It is following the previous resolution adopted two years ago in this assembly under the presidency of Madagascar (Resolution 71/289).
The Draft resolution presented today gives an overview of the main commitments reaffirmed at the seventeenth summit of the Francophonie, as indicated in the declaration of Yerevan and the other documents adopted at the summit. The resolution note the will of the member states to strengthen their cooperation for the promotion of international peace and security, the defense of human rights and gender equality, the fight against terrorism, the prevention of the genocide and the Crimes against humanity, sustainable development, the promotion of education and training, in order to fill the digital ditch, ANSI than in other areas. The resolution welcomes the creation of two new regional offices in Tunis and Beirut, in application of the relative decision adopted at the seventeenth summit of the Francophonie.
I would like to finish my speech by thanking all delegations for their constructive commitment in the process of consultations on the resolution of the resolution. We are very grateful for the consensual and substantial result of this process. Armenia is looking forward to the next summit of the heads of state and government of la Francophonie, which will be held in Tunis (Tunisia) in 2020 and will mark the 2020th anniversary of the international organization of la Francophonie.
Thank you, Madam President.
