On December 9, the Armenian community in Boston organized a classical music concert dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Armenia’s membership to the United Nations.

Held at Boston’s Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church, the concert featured a number of special performances, including those of renowned soloists Victoria Avetisian and Noune Karapetian, sopranos from the Boston Lyric opera, tenor Yeghishe Manucharyan of the New York Metropolitan Opera, and the Yerevan Choral Society and Orchestra led by composer and conductor Maestro Konstantin Petrossian.

At the end of the program, Armenia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Garen Nazarian addressed the large audience of the community members. He stressed that Armenia’s membership to the UN in 1992 was a milestone on the path of strengthening the country’s independence. The Ambassador also noted that through its engagement within the United Nations, Armenia has committed itself to the preservation and promotion of international peace, democratic values and rule of law. Ambassador Nazarian also mentioned that engagement in the universal intergovernmental organization has allowed Armenia to actively contribute along with other UN member states to the international community’s fight against terrorism, non-proliferation of weapons, for the prevention of genocide and in addressing social, economic and sustainable development matters.

In conclusion, Ambassador Nazarian praised the Diaspora’s contribution in the development of the independence of Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh.
