30th Anniversary of Membership of Armenia in the United Nations

30 years ago, on March 2, 1992, Armenia joined the family of the United Nations. The three decades of membership have been marked with Armenia’s consistent contribution to the efforts of the international community towards the maintenance of international peace and security, prevention of genocides, sustainable development, as well as promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms.

Armenia closely aligns itself with the aims and principles of the UN Charter and is firmly committed to the strengthening of multilateralism based on the international law.

Over the 30 years of cooperation, the UN has been a key partner for Armenia in state institution-building, strengthening of democracy and upholding rule of law, protection of human rights, empowerment of women and youth and sustainable development.

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Armenia’s membership in the United Nations, the Permanent Mission of Armenia has organized a commemorative exhibition at the UN Headquarters entitled “Women in State-Building”. The presentation of the exhibition will be held on 8 March, on the International Women’s Day and in the run-up to the session of the UN Commission of the Status of Women. The exhibition showcases the role played by prominent women in various aspects of public, social and political life throughout Armenia’s history.
