Intervention by H.E. Mr. Paruyr Hovhannisyan, Permanent Representative of Armenia to the UN, at the UN Group of Friends on Gender Parity's exchange with the President of UNGA

During the UN Group of Friends on Gender Parity's exchange with the President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Paruyr Hovhannisyan, Permanent Representative of Armenia to the UN, underscored that as Armenia takes on greater responsibilities within the United Nations - including in the ECOSOC Bureau, the UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS Executive Board, and preparations for hosting COP17 — the country remains committed to ensuring that gender equality is reflected both in its policy positions and in its institutional culture. He noted that during the 58th session of the Human Rights Council, Armenia, together with Estonia, France, Costa Rica, Chile, Japan, and Kenya, initiated a joint statement on digital technologies and the rights of women and girls, calling for concrete actions to mainstream a gender perspective in digital policies and emerging AI frameworks.

It was emphasized that gender parity is not only about numbers - it is about voice, safety, leadership, as well as the meaningful participation of women in peace processes, digital transformation, climate action, and governance.
