Mr Chair,

Digital transformation is increasingly shaping all aspects of our societies creating new opportunities to advance sustainable development, innovation and economic growth.

The strategic priorities of the Government of Armenia in the field of Digital technologies drive our actions in the sector of innovation. The establishment of the Firebird AI Factory, a state-of-the-art public-private initiative developed in cooperation with NVIDIA and Dell Technologies is the most recent achievement in this regard.

Our domestic efforts are closely complemented by our multilateral engagement aimed at fortifying global frameworks in this field. In this regard, I’m pleased to inform that on Oct 7th the Human Rights Council unanimously adopted the resolution on “Strengthening International Cooperation for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Girls in the Context of Digital Technologies" presented by Armenia and cross-regional core group consisting of Estonia, Rwanda, Uruguay, Senegal, Sweden, and Kazakhstan. The resolution addresses the opportunities provided by digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, in the context of human rights, as well as the challenges associated with them. A key pillar of the resolution is the promotion of international cooperation, considering the cross-border nature of technologies and the importance of strengthening multilateral cooperation aimed at their effective governance.

Meantime, multilateral cooperation is key for unlocking the potential of technologies as a catalysts for sustainable development which requires enhanced institutional capacity and digital literacy. For smaller and landlocked economies, digitalization can help overcome geographical constraints, expand access to international markets and create new opportunities for trade in services and participation in global value chains.

We are looking forward to join forces with all those who share these goals.

Thank you.
